I can't believe DA just ate this entry XC
I realized that I haven't mentioned this to you guys, and while it isn't important I believe in being up front in how I do stuff as an artist.
The Photoshop brushes for some recent artwork of mine were not made by me.
They were created by M@, on conceptart.org to use. I'd link to them but you have to be a member to see them. If you are a member I'll gladly point you to them though.
Anyways, M@ is an excellent artist, and I really enjoy the brushes. I used to have my own set but I forgot to move them to the new computer, so I'm slowly rebuilding them.
95% of the brushwork I do is with the round default brush, so it's only for a few things that I use custom brushes for, but they are handy.
In part I wanted to talk about this since a few people have mentioned how difficult some of my art looks, and it will be the easiest part of the picture. Art isn't just about working hard, it's about being clever so you can work less. Not to bash hard work, but I only do ridiculously detailed pictures for meditative reasons. It blew my mind when I realized comic artists work on papers 400% bigger than the art you see in the comic books.
So I make (and use other people's) brushes to make things easier. Once you figure out how to make it work for you some neat effects can arise. Of course, always make sure you have permission!
I'm not exactly sure what I intended this tirade to accomplish, but it's off my chest now.
By the way, I'm out in Seattle. It finally turned sunny today
